Preliminary Round Format

Three Rounds Decide Who Advances

Every division runs the same three-part preliminary format on Day 1, before finals on Day 2.

1

Team Round

  • Online or paper
  • Answered together as a team
  • Question types: multiple choice, true/false, match the following, and arrange in order
2

Individual Round

  • Online or paper
  • Question types: multiple choice, true/false, match the following, and arrange in order
  • Each participant answers alone, so every student’s own knowledge counts — teammates’ scores are then averaged together
